Last weekend I popped across to Paris for a flying visit to Maison & Objet, one of Europe’s largest design fairs. The show is always a wonderful place for inspiration and it’s always fun to try and spot emerging trends for the coming year. I wrote a trend piece on the show for Houzz which you can view here and below is a visual diary of some of my favourite pieces from the show. As I have said before I like to view trends in a lighthearted rather than a prescriptive way – good design should be long lasting and more than just a fashion or a fad. But it’s always interesting to see new materials and ideas and try to guess what could become a future classic. This year I spotted lots of copper, industrial design, up cycling and typography. What design ideas did you spot? Do let me know in the comments below.
