This houseboat on the River Thames in London has a wonderful history. Originally a working transport boat, ‘Beecliffe’ spent many years travelling up and down England’s waterways delivering coal and steel. However, as times changed, there became less need for transport boats and, in the intervening 80 years, she changed hands several times before being discovered by Gary Marshall, founder of beauty brand Anatomicals.
An all-round creative person, Gary cast his magic spell over the boat and transformed it into this light, airy and very beautiful home. These lovely photos were taken by Chris Snook for Houzz, you can see the full set of photos and can read my full interview with Gary here.
“The boat had lots of heart – it just needed its soul bringing back,” – Gary Marshall
“I wanted to create a modern, light and comfortable living space fit for 2016, while still retaining elements of the boat’s history. I also wanted the interior to have an element of surprise.”
Marshall worked closely with woodworkers and furniture-makers Goodingham Brotherson the refit. “They are amazingly talented,” he says
Marshall describes his style as “a mixture of traditional nautical mixed with Scandi chic”
